Princess Charlotte Made a Savage Comment to The Paparazzi at Prince Louis’s Christening
She might be just 3 years old, but Princess Charlotte of Cambridge has no time or patience for royal etiquettes. All her public outings make headlines as she turns out to be the show-stealer and also has the best toddler style.
But her recent appearance at her baby brother’s christening ceremony is making news. Because turns out the little royal has no patience for paparazzi and will spare no attempts to mock them.
1The cheeky Princess
Princess Charlotte is already one of the most fun-loving royals and she’s not even four-years-old yet. Charlotte often takes centre stage at public outings with her parents with her antics. It’s clear that she is just having a good time and the Royal code of conduct does not appeal to her in any way. She is also one of the youngest Royals in the world which perhaps gives her a lot of space to avoid the rules.
2Just like her uncle
Many people relentlessly compare Charlotte to her uncle Prince Harry especially when it comes to their personalities. Britain has come to love and adore Harry for his fun-loving ways and engagement with his subjects. People love his carefree persona and the fact that he has no airs. Charlotte is also much like his uncle and loves to ignore Royal decorum. People like to think Charlotte will grow up to be just like Prince Harry.
3The Queen’s mini-me
Little Charlotte also shares a lot of physical traits with Queen Elizabeth II herself. In fact, the Queen looked exactly like Charlotte as a child. Which explains why Charlotte is a particular favourite with her. A few weeks ago media was abuzz with photos of the oldest and the youngest British Royal comparing how very similar they look. Although Charlotte might never get to sit on the royal throne herself.
4Can she ever be Queen?
Turns out Charlotte can beat Prince Harry when it comes to ruling the Great Britain. Charlotte is 4th in line to the throne while Harry is 6th in line. Interestingly, Charlotte can only be Queen if her grandfather Prince Charles, her father Prince William, her brother George have all passed. But she will get to be queen before her brother Louis, as the 2013 Succession of Crown act ensures that the gender of the royal does not matter when it comes to succession.
Princess Charlotte was recently seen all decked up at her younger brother Prince Louis’s christening. It was a really special occasion as it was an out-and-out family affair and it was Meghan Markle’s first family event after her wedding. Needless to say, the entire royal family was present at the church so that the little prince could get baptised. Princess Charlotte was the scene-stealer with her floral frock and her blue headband as she arrived with her father Prince William.
6She snapped at the paparazzi
Princess Charlotte is not known for her poise or her keeping her temper and took the chance to take a jibe at the photographers. As she was walking into the church she snapped at the photographers who were busy clicking her pictures, and said, “You’re not coming.” Well, at least she got that right. The christening was a restricted event, and it’s amazing how Charlotte already knows how the paparazzi works.
7Not a paparazzi person
If Kim Kardashian’s daughter North West can tell the paparazzi off, Princess Charlotte can definitely do so. But while the Kardashians owe a lot of their success to the media and the fast paparazzi culture, the royal family has had a difficult relationship with the media. Of course, there’s the incident involving Charlotte’s late grandmum Princess Diana, as her death is often blamed upon the paparazzi. Charlotte seems to have found a distaste for the media too.
8Charlotte’s temper problem
This is not the first time Princess Charlotte has had a tantrum in public. Remember few months ago, she threw a tantrum in a German airfield while she was on a vacation with her family? Her mum Kate was quick to rescue the situation and consoled Charlotte. Although her brother Prince George was also present, he seemed more than happy to look at the helicopters and fly back home. It was only after Kate picked Charlotte up that she had stopped crying.
9Unlike brother George
Interestingly, Charlotte’s older brother George does not share Charlotte’s free spirit. George has always been incredibly poised and remarkably well-mannered, especially considering his age. In fact, George has been seen handling several high-pressure situations with a great amount of grace. He doesn’t just have a remarkably grown-up wardrobe but, also does not lose his temper. Remember when he was pushed from a small park cliff by a friend, and he just kept his calm and did not clap back?
The royal christening was obviously an important event and the body language expert confirmed that the royal family was really happy and entirely smitten with the children. “There was a sweetness to their gestures but also energy and happiness behind it. Prince William gives off this ‘photos … now … really?’ vibe. His pursed lips, intense eyes, and stern face show he was irritated with the moment, not his family,” said body language experts.
11Kate stole the show
But experts unanimously believe that the girl of the moment was not Princess Charlotte but Kate Middleton. “Her hand is perfectly bent to cradle the baby, giving him a security. But what’s really significant is Kate’s spontaneous and joyous expression, a rather unusual sight compared to her shy and restrained demeanor. The definition in her neck, open mouth, and raised eyebrows show that she’s not only listening to what the Archbishop has to say but she’s actually interested,” says Patti Wood, body language expert.
12Meghan was there
Meghan Markle of course, made an appearance at the event too. It was especially important for Meghan as the christening of the prince was such a personal event. In fact, it was the first major family event she has been a part of. Her fans were rejoiced to see the Duchess being a part of the big royal ceremony. But Meghan raised a lot of eyebrows with her dress, especially since it was not something the royals are expected to see at a christening ceremony at church.
13What was wrong with her dress?
For the Christening, Meghan was wearing an olive green Ralph Lauren, fitted number. The dress wasn’t deemed the best colour for Meghan and was kind of draining her out. Fashion police pointed out that it might have been a deliberate move on Meghan’s part, as she wanted to blend in with the others and not draw attention to herself. Especially since it was Prince Louis’s day. Plus, the silhouette of Meghan’s dress looks quite out-of-place at a church event.
14The Fashion police is on the edge
The most remarkable element of Meghan’s dress was the colour. Trend forecaster Hannah Craggs revealed that Meghan ditched the pastels for a reason. “Warm olive and earth-toned neutral shades are trending in spring/summer 2018 and beyond, which in part is due to the continued influence of streetwear on high fashion seemingly Meghan Markle and her styling team are acutely aware of this. Taking a confident step away from her safe naturals and blush-toned wardrobe, instead adopting this colour shows that she is keen to forge her own look with a keen eye on contemporary style,” she said.
15Taking a book from Diana’s book
Did you know that Princess Diana also loved making a statement in unusual colours, especially in non-pastel ones? Since usually the women of the royal family are so loyal to the pastel palette, Diana’s style seemed to stand out. Diana also loved wearing understated colours like olive and mauve. Meghan might just be taking a page out of Diana’s style guide, as she chose a dark olive number for a christening. Something Kate Middleton would never go for, but Diana definitely would.
