Meet The Woman With Whom Freddie Mercury Fall In Love

Freddie Mercury is one of the most popular and greatest singers of all time and his songs are still very much loved by the music lovers. Originally known as Farrokh Bulsara, he was born to Parsi parents from India but they used to live in Zanzibar at that time and later on, they shifted to England. Other than being the lead singer of his band Queen, Freddie was also a songwriter and record producer as well. However, today we are not going to talk about the music aspect of Freddie’s life, we are going to talk about the personal life of Freddie and tell you about a lady who was with Freddie even when he was not famous till the time he took his last breath.

1Who is that lady?

The lady that we are talking about is Mary Austin whom Freddie met in the year 1969, just a year before his band Queen was formed. Mary’s parents were deaf and mute and she used to communicate with them using sign language. Mary’s father worked as a plasterer while her mother worked as domestic servant.

2How did it begin?

Their love for the clothes played an important role in their relationship, at that time; Mary was employed in Biba, a London clothing store while Freddie and Roger Taylor used to sell vintage clothing at Kensington market. While on one side, Mary was a young, small girl who lacked confidence, on the other hand, Freddie was a loud character who was always dressed in bright clothes which further made Mary weak in her knees.

3Mary was hesitant in the beginning:

Mary was hesitant in the beginning but soon they started dating and she recalls during an interview that they were just like many other couples who didn’t had money. They used to listen to music and take walks as they didn’t had enough money to do something else and it was very difficult for the musicians to make it big due to the huge competition in the 1970s.

4They started living together:

After seeing each other for a couple of months, they both moved in together in a small apartment. They both lived a simple life as Freddie was busy writing songs while Mary supported him at each moment of life. It is also being said that Mary knew how to keep Freddie grounded.
