1 Amelia Earhart
Amelia Earhart was an American Aviation pioneer and the first female to fly across the Atlantic Ocean on a solo flight. Apart from being an overall badass, she was also an influential author and wrote many books about her flying adventures. Here she is seen preparing for her circumnavigational flight around the globe in 1937. She disappeared over the Howland Island in Pacific Ocean and was never heard from again. Her disappearance is one of the biggest unsolved aviation mysteries of the world today.
2 Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury was the front man and lead singer, songwriter for the British Band Queen. He was well-known for his flamboyant personality and for his brilliant singing and song lyrics. He died in 1991 at the age of 45 due to bronchopneumonia, which was brought on by AIDS. He will always be remembered for his songs ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We are the champions’ and many more #1 hits.
3 Tupac Shakur
Tupac Shakur was an American rapper, actor and music producer. He was killed when some unknown assailants shot him on September 7, 1996 and he died in hospital on September 13 at the age of 25. He is widely regarded as the best rapper in US music industry and his albums ‘All Eyez on Me’ and ‘Greatest Hits’ are the most sold albums in United States. This image was taken right before the shooting happened, as Tupac was leaving the Tyson-Seldon fight from MGM Grand with Suge Knight.
4 Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of United States and was in office when he was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865. Booth was an actor and he shot Lincoln while he was attending the play ‘Our American Cousin’ at Ford’s Theatre. This photo of him was found in Ulysses S. Grant’s photo album.
5 Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was the co-founder and CEO of Apple Inc., the largest and most profitable tech company in the world. He was widely credited for the invention of iPhone, iPod, iMac computer and many other technological advances throughout his life time. Jobs died of pancreatic cancer and respiratory arrest on October 5, 2011 at the age of 56. This photo is of him a month of two before his death.
6 Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger was an Australian actor, famous for his roles in Brokeback Mountain and for his portrayal of DC comic villain ‘The Joker’ in Christopher Nolan’s 2008 blockbuster ‘The Dark Knight’. Ledger was chosen to play the psychopathic villain despite huge outcry on the internet and he locked himself up for a month in a hotel room, jotting his thoughts as he prepared to play the role that would immortalize him. He died on 22 January, 2008, a few months after finishing the Batman movie and was filming for The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. He died due to accidental overdose of prescription medicine at the age of 28. He did receive a posthumous academy award for the best supporting actor for his role of the Joker in The Dark Knight.
7 Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a German born diarist and a writer. She is also the face of Jewish Holocaust victims during the WWII. Her diary titled, “The Diary of a Young Girl” is one of the most known books in the world. She was taken by the Nazi forces along with her family to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where she died possibly of typhus in Feb or March 1945 at the age of 15 years.
8 James Dean
James Dean, famous for his roles in “Rebel Without a Cause” and “Giant”, was killed at the age of 24 in September of 1955, when his car, a Porsche 550 was involved in an accident and he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Considered to be one of the best actors of his generation, Dean is still remembered for what he could have been, if not for his death.
9 Jim Morrison
Jim Morrison was the lead singer, songwriter and poet of the band ‘The Doors.’ Considered as one of the icons of rock music, Morrison died at the age of 27 in 1971. He was found in a bathtub at a Paris apartment by his long term companion Pamela Courson. The photo was taken days before his death.
10 Robin Williams
Robin Williams was an Academy award winning actor and comedian known for roles in movies like “Good Will Hunting”, “Dead Poets Society” and “Good Morning, Vietnam.” He was found dead on August 11, 2014 at his home. Williams had committed suicide by hanging at the age of 63. This photo was taken a month before his death at a party.
11 Steve ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin
Steve Irwin was a well-known wildlife expert and conservationist known for his hugely informational TV shows. He was nicknamed as the ‘Crocodile Hunter’ for his affinity with the reptiles. The photo was taken on the day of Irwin’s death. He was killed on September 4, 2006 when a stingray barb pierced his heart and he bled to death, while filming an underwater documentary.
12 Kurt Cobain
Kurt Cobain is known as the lead singer and guitarist for the path breaking rock band ‘Nirvana.’ He was the writer and singer of the hugely popular song ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit.’ Cobain was addicted to heroin and depression and died on April 8, 1994 from a shotgun blast to the chin.
13 Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was the Chancellor of Germany and leader of the Nazi Party who initiated the Second World War which went on from 1939 to 1945. Hitler was defeated when both the Russian Red Army and Allied Forces invaded Germany and liberated the concentration camps. He was holed in a bunker, where on 20th April; he made a last trip to the surface on his 56th birthday. On 29th April, 1945, he married Eva Braun and was informed of the execution of Mussolini. On April 30, he shot himself and Braun bit on a cyanide capsule. Their bodies were buried in the grounds behind the Reich Chancellery.
Strangely though, a woman claims that Hitler escaped from the bunker and lived to die at 95
14 Chris Benoit
Chris Benoit was a Canadian professional wrestler who worked for the World Wrestling Entertainment. On June, 2007, police had to break into his house on a welfare check and found the bodies of his wife, Nancy and son, Daniel in the bedroom. They also found Benoit hanging from his gym equipment in what turned out to be a murder-suicide. This photo was taken by a fan at the doctor’s clinic days before Benoit went on a rampage and killed his family, before killing himself over a period of three days.
15 Paul Walker
The star of “The Fast and the Furious” movie series, Paul Walker was killed in a single car crash. On November 30, 2013, 40-year-old Walker and his friend Rodas left an event in Rodas’ Porsche Carrera GT. The car crashed into a lamp post and two trees at high speed and burst into flames. Both Walker and Rodas were killed on impact. Walker’s last movie was “Brick Mansion” and “The Fast and Furious 7.”
