Gwen Stefani Took a Makeup-free Selfie and Fans Can’t Recognize Her

Going bare-faced is all the rage in showbiz right now. From Alicia Keys to Christina Aguilera, all the pop icons are ditching makeup for photoshoots, magazine covers, or selfies. But what happens when ditching makeup makes you look so entirely different that even your own fans can’t even recognize you?

Gwen Stefani, whose makeup routine is all about stellar foundation and red lipstick, recently went makeup-free for a vacation selfie. She was recently on a vacation in Oklahoma with her boyfriend Blake Shelton to celebrate his birthday, but her new look is not sitting well with her fans, who are used to seeing Gwen with a lot more makeup.

1Her reputation

Over the years people have made a lot of jokes about Gwen’’s love for red lipstick. In fact, her generous use of foundation, eyeliner and lipstick made her a subject of curiosity in showbiz. But Gwen has never really paid any attention to these comments. She has often said that her makeup is a statement and gives her confidence as a performer and she sees no reason why she should change it. So, naturally her bare-faced selfie has a lot of tongues wagging.

2Ms red lipstick

Makeup has been a part of Gwen’s growth as a pop diva. She has never been seen without her standard lipstick-eyeliner combo. Even when she is running errands or rehearsing, Gwen always makes sure she has her face on. Fans are surprised with her natural selfie as she has stuck to the same makeup pattern for years and only recently started changing her routine. Is it also a sign of her upcoming changes in her stage persona? Because Gwen without her red lipstick and smokey eyes would be quite radical.

3The 32-second face

Gwen’s makeup artiste Gregory Arlt recently talked about how much time he spends on Gwen’s makeup. He talked about his signature 32-second face which he often uses on Gwen while putting on her makeup. “When you did put frosted eyeshadow on, it did look like aluminum foil; it exacerbated every wrinkle and every crease. While it’s true that matte minimizes imperfections (like if you were painting a wall and there were nicks and dings, you’re not going to use high-gloss paint), I think if a woman has 32 seconds to get ready, then definitely [put on a product with] shimmer because it just pops. It puts a little life on your face,” he said.
