2 David Carradine
Veteran actor David Carradine was found dead in his home in 2009 at the age of 72. He acted in over 100 movies in a career spanning more than 30 years. He also directed movies and was a talented musician. According to the official Police report in Thailand, he was found dead in his hotel room, naked, and hanging from a rope in closet. Carradine’s death was ruled as accidental death due to autoerotic asphyxiation, which is a form of sexual fetish.
3 River Phoenix
River Phoenix was the brother of actor Joaquin Phoenix, and was regarded as one of the best young talents of his time. He had made quite a name for himself in the short time, before his death at the age of 23. He acted in 24 movies including Stand By Me. He had received an Oscar nomination for My Private Idaho. Phoenix died from severe drug reaction outside a club owned by Johnny Depp called the Viper Room in Los Angeles on October 31st, 1993. Toxicology reports said he had high amounts of morphine and cocaine in his blood along with other substances which caused his death.
4 Brian Jones
Anyone who follows music knows who Rolling Stones are. The band was founded by Brian Jones and featured Keith Richards and Mick Jagger. Jones was instrumental in making Rolling stones who they are, he chose the members, named the band, got the band work and chose the music. Brian Jones unfortunately was plagued with a heavy addiction to drugs, which actually took his life in 1969. He was found by his girlfriend at the bottom of the swimming pool and coroners found his liver and heart were enlarged due to drug and alcohol abuse.
5 Chris Farley
Funny man Chris Farley was perhaps the funniest guy on SNL and at the age of 32, he transitioned onto the big screen with successful movie ventures. Unfortunately, he had battled drug and alcohol abuse whole his life and his demons won in the end when he died at the age of 33 in December of 1997. He died due to combination of drug abuse and weight issues.
6 Keith Moon
One of the greatest drummers of all time, Keith Moon also had a disruptive personality as he struggled with his addiction to alcohol and being a pain in butt wherever he stayed. Moon overdosed on 32 clomethiazole tablets and was found dead. He was given the tablets to fight his addiction to alcohol and was only asked to take 3 in a day. He had a fight with his girlfriend over food and he took this medicine, out of which only 6 tablets were digested and rest killed him at the age of 32.
7 Brandon Lee
Probably the most unfortunate death on this list, Brandon Lee was the son of legendary Bruce Lee and was fast becoming a movie star in his own right. He was filming a scene for his movie The Crow in 1993, when in a scene; he was shot accidentally and died due to those wounds. The prop gun had a bullet stuck in the barrel and was loaded with blanks, when it was shot, it propelled the bullet in Lee’s stomach and he died in hospital after 6 hours of surgery.
8 Anton Yelchin
The biggest shock death of this year was of Star Trek star Anton Yelchin. Yelchin passed away on June 19th 2016 when he was pinned by his own Jeep and a brick pillar outside his home in California. He had gotten out of his car and the car rolled back on an incline on him and pinned him, killing him due to blunt traumatic asphyxia. He had one of the best years so far in terms of movies with The Green Room and Star Trek Beyond releasing, and proving that we lost a brilliant talent to untimely death.
9 Cory Monteith
Cory Monteith was the star of famous TV series Glee. His life was spent battling addiction from the age of 13 and he entered rehab when he was 19. Unfortunately, his addiction to drugs and alcohol meant that he was written out of the TV series in the 4th season and was sent into rehab. He completed his rehab in April, but in July, was found dead in his hotel room due to overdose of heroin and alcohol. Doctors also found morphine and codeine in his system and ruled his death was accidental.
10 Bon Scott
Bon Scott was the lead singer for the famous AC/DC band from 1974-80. Scott died at the age of 33 after he passed out after drinking too much in a pub in London. His friend put him in his car outside the pub to sleep it off, but in the morning they found his lifeless body. Coroners found out that he died due to acute alcohol poisoning and his grave has become the most visited grave in Australia.

Another young actor who died an untimely death was Heath Ledger, who received a posthumous Oscar and a Golden Globe for his role as the Joker in 2008 blockbuster The Dark Knight. He was found by his housekeeper and the paramedics answered the call immediately, but they were unable to revive him. They officially ruled that he died due to abuse of several drugs like oxycodone, hydrocodone,diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine. Steve Irwin died doing what he loved, being with wild animals and nature.
