On Nov 13, 2015, Paris was jolted by several terrorist attacks carried out by the ISIS at various places. The aftermath of the Paris terror attacks left 129 people dead and more than 350 injured. The attacks began with 2 suicide bombers blowing themselves near the State de France stadium at 9.20 pm during the France vs Germany football friendly match.

Minutes later, ISIS members opened fire at several restaurants and other members opened fire at a rock concert venue, Bataclan COncert Hall, which resulted in most deaths. The world was left stunned and France decided to pick up the pieces and move on, while president Hollande declared war on ISIS. Many monuments across the world were lit up in the colors of the national flag of French to show solidarity towards France and many celebrities also took to social media to give their reactions on the Paris terror attacks.

Khloe Kardashian took to Instagram and posted an image of red, blue and white flowers, arranged in the shape of the French Flag, with words “Pray for Paris” on them. She also accompanied the image with a quote from Barack Obama saying “Once again, we’ve seen an outrageous attempt to terrorize innocent civilians. This is an attack not just on Paris, it’s attack not just on the people of France, but this is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values that we share.”

2 Taylor Swift

America’s sweetheart and one of the biggest selling artists in the world, Taylor Swift used her influential social media presence to show solidarity towards France by posting this picture of herself overlooking the city of Paris, on her Instagram and Twitter accounts with the words: “Praying for Paris. Our hearts are breaking for and with you.”

3 Katie Holmes

Actress Katie Holmes is famous for her roles in Dawson’s Creek and Batman Begins. She was also married to actor Tom Cruise before divorcing him and has a daughter with him. She posted the image of the One World Trade Center lit up in French colors with the hashtag “#PrayforParis”. The One World Trade center tower or the Freedom Tower is built on the same place where the Twin World Trade Center buildings used to be, before they were destroyed in a plane terror attack by Al-Qaeda on September 11, 2001.

4 Arnold Schwarzenegger

Former governor of California and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger posted an image with hashtag #Parisjetaime and these words: “My heart breaks for France. Sending thoughts and prayers to the victims, their families and all of your citizens. Liberté, égalité, fraternité.”

The three French words at the end translate to freedom, equality and fraternity, a popular war cry during the French Revolution in the late 1700s. His use of French was to show support for the people of Paris.
