This talented actor turned down not one, but two superhero roles. He was offered the roles of Robin in ‘Batman Forever’ and Peter Parker in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ movies. Leo said that he wasn’t ready to play a superhero then. But he has also said that he is open to the idea as the characters are getting more complex.
Matthew McConaughey was originally considered to play Ego in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’. He said he turned down the role because he felt like his character was just added to add another star to the successful franchise. The role went to Kurt Russell. McConaughey chose ‘Dark Tower’ over Guardians because he wanted to be with a franchise from the beginning but sadly it was a massive disappointment.

Director Zack Snyder considered several actresses to play Lois Lane in ‘Man of Steel’ opposite Henry Cavill. A leading choice was Kristen Stewart. However, she quickly turned down the role because she did not want to be a part of another franchise so soon after Twilight. She preferred to work in independent projects. Jessica Biel and Rachel McAdams were also considered but the role went to Amy Adams at last.
In the 2000s, the ‘Pearl Harbor’ star was one of the biggest names in Hollywood. He was offered the roles of Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man at different points in time but he turned down all. Hartnett said it was because he was nervous about being pigeonholed. He was overlooked for Nolan’s ‘The Prestige’ which he regretted because it also starred his then-girlfriend Scarlett Johansson.
