7 Bad Vehicle Driving Habits Liable To Damage Your Car and Drain Your Wallet
Most car drivers are accustomed to certain habits which aren’t always the right thing to do. The problem is that the more a driver is experienced, the harder it gets to break bad driving habits. In order to highlight such a problem for the benefits of driver, here are 7 bad driving habits that can spoil your car and cause a dent in your wallet.
7 Resting your hand on the gear stick
While driving, every driver has the bad habit of resting their hand on the gear stick. This is not the correct thing to do simply because both your hands should be on the steering wheel. The constant pressure on the gearbox however small it may be can turn it into a cocktail shaker unsettling the gears and synchronizers. Ultimately shifting gears will become a problem.
6 Refueling only when the tank is almost empty
Mechanical impurities in the fuel tank can form into sediment at the bottom. If you are habituated to refueling your car only when the tank shows empty, then you risk the sediment entering the fuel pump and filters that can cause a lot of damage. In winter, always leave the tank half full to avoid heavy condensation. When the climate is too cold and freezing, water in the tank can lead to damage and several other malfunctions.
5 Frequent braking
In driving school students are always taught to merge with the traffic and keep a safe distance. However, many drivers will not abide by such a rule closing a distance to the point of being unsafe and then breaking frequently. This applies unnecessary pressure as well as faster wear and tear on the brakes making you spend on frequent replacements of brake pads and discs. To avoid untoward incidents or accidents, always change the brake hose and maintain a close watch on brake fluid levels.
