12When and where did it live?

They lived in the mid to late Paleocene Epoch, approximately 58 to 60 million years ago.  They lived in what is now the La Guajira region in north-eastern Colombia in South America. Twenty-eight fossils were found in a coal mine in the Cerrejon Formation in Colombia. A full-scale model was displayed at the Grand Central Terminal in New York.

13Deinosuchus

This was an ancestor of the modern crocodile. Scientists believe it was about 10 to 12 meters long, could crush skulls of its prey. It used to hunt dinosaurs, including the T-Rex, when they would come to drink water. It pulled them into the water, crushed their skull and drowned them and then ate them.

This horrific creature was one of the top-level predators of the Cretaceous Age. Its fossil was first discovered in 1858 in the western United States. These creatures would live for up to 50 years and would keep growing until 35 years of age. It feasted upon all aquatic animals including turtles.

This was the largest known eagle in the world. It went extinct 500 years ago. It lived on the South Island of New Zealand. It weighs as much as 230 kilograms. They preyed upon large flightless birds and at times even humans. Maori legends have often spoken of this monstrous bird with fear and caution.
