They were not results of mutations but were the very first creatures on the planet. After refinement, they have achieved their present forms. Take a look at some of these prehistoric creatures that were so scary and mighty, they appear to be made up.

1Beelzebufo

This was a species of prehistoric frog. It existed in the late Cretaceous period, some 70 million years ago. It lived in the region that is present-day Madagascar. The first fossil was found in 1933 and 75 samples have been collected so far. Its closest living relatives are probably the horned toads of South America.

2Why so dangerous?

It was often called “devil frog” because it was a fierce predator. Some estimates say that it could have been as tall as 15.7 inches and about 9 inches in length. It had a large head and mouth and a very strong bite. It is believed that they used to prey on large animals and baby dinosaurs using its large and strong jaws.

3Mosasaurus

This extinct creature was a deadly water lizard. It grew as long as 56 feet and weighed up to 5000 kilograms. It had two extra sets of deadly teeth and a very powerful jaw which enabled it to attack almost any creature. It preyed on fish, squid and other aquatic animals. It gave birth to live babies in the sea.

4When and where did it live?

The fossils were found in almost every continent of the world, including Antarctica. They lived during the Maastrichtian Age of the Cretaceous Period, approximately 70 million years ago. The first skull was found in the Netherlands in 1764. The creature has been reimagined in the 2018 movie ‘Jurassic World’.

5Megalodon Shark

Based on the size of the fossils, it has been estimated that this shark used to be 79-82 feet long and its teeth used to be more than 7 inches long. It had the highest bite force of any creature in the world – up to 1.8 tons of force per square inch. Its bite could crush the skull of any other creature.
