War Vets Get Their Own Tiny Village to Live in Free of Cost by The City’s Veteran Community Project
5All credit goes to the nonprofit Veterans Community Project that started this brilliant idea
A group of war veterans came together to start the nonprofit Veterans Community Project because they were familiar with the difficulties of reintegrating back into civilian life. Specifically, they’re working to better the lives of veterans in Missouri, and have initiated the project in Kansas City.

6There is the Veterans Community Project Village and the Veteran Outreach Center
They have both the VCP Village and the Veteran Outreach Center, a walk-in facility where veterans can obtain free assistance in navigating elements of veteran life in Kansas City. Help with VA benefits and connections to mental and physical health treatments are just some of the support services available at the Outreach Center.

7Those veterans who’ve lived in the city say it’s a life-changing experience
This initiative has helped some of them financially, but the emotional support and kindness they’ve received has had an even greater impact on them. “I’ve never had anyone do anything for me. I’ve always been the one to do for my family and my friends – but this is incredible…Now how blessed can you be in this life?”
