Useless Inventions You Never Knew Existed
Many successful inventions that still exist today have changed our lives or at least made them much more convenient. However, there are some inventions that failed in becoming a hit around the world. Some of them seem pretty interesting, but you will soon ask yourself: Who came up with that idea?
1 Motorised ice cream cone
This plastic device is quite simple. All you need to do is put a scoop of ice cream on top, and then push the button to make it spin. It is useful for licking at the other side of the ice cream without having to turn it yourself, but think about it; what effort is there in turning in ice cream cone? Plus, you can’t really fit much ice cream inside, nor can you eat the cone, so a real ice cream cone would suffice. They can be found on Amazon and other online retailers, but you won’t have much luck finding them in stores; and for good reason.
2 Shoe umbrellas
Yes, umbrellas for shoes exist… but why, exactly? Apparently, it is to protect your favorite shoes from the rain. However, it looks like rain and mud still has have access to your shoes. It wouldn’t be very comfortable or attractive to have little umbrellas sticking out of the toes of your shoes, and so it is easy to see why this invention would never be popular. There are much better alternatives to shoe umbrellas; plastic coverings that actually go over your shoes, and of course, rain boots. At least they’re good for a laugh though.
3 USB Pet Rock
Pet rocks were the whole craze when they were first invented. They were just simple, round rocks in boxes that people actually paid money for. Now, they have been incorporated with a USB cord! Guess what happens when you plug the rock into your computer? Nothing. Of course, you can use your imagination on what your little pet rock does or lie to your friends about what it does just for kicks, but even a goldfish would be a better pet. The USB pet rock is an invention that not even kids will take interest in for long.
This invention is supposed to make potty training more entertaining for young children by having a holder for their parent’s iPad to fit. Attaching expensive technology to a toilet for young children is not the cleverest or most hygienic idea; you never know what disasters may ensue. Furthermore, some parents may not want to introduce iPads to children so young. There have to be much better and safer ways to help kids with potty training without ending up with a ruined iPad.
5 Picnic Pants
Can you imagine wearing these pants in public? They have a huge, baggy space between the legs that turn into a table when you sit down. They are for people who want to have a picnic on their pants. Simply using your lap would be enough, and it looks like you have to sit in a pretty uncomfortable position in order for the picnic area to be stable. If you ever plan on going on a picnic, you should probably bring a blanket or just sit at a table instead of wearing such horrendous pants.
