Pests and insects at home and the kitchen can really be a nuisance and a menace. The bigger problem is using pesticides with a nasty scent and the potential to be harmful to your health if you ingest too much by mistake. Chemicals in pesticides can be very toxic and instead of harming the insects, they may end up harming you instead. Research shows that several of these chemicals are linked to various health problems but the good thing is that you don’t have to rely on such things to get rid of pests because here are 12 ways to get rid of all of them.
Cockroaches usually come foraying for food and water especially at night so of there is nothing to food lying left around, chances are you may not see any. But that’s unlikely so what you can do is to make a trap. Take an empty plastic soft drink bottle and cut the top off. Assemble it like the picture shows to make it look like a funnel. Now with tape, seal the rim and pour some water into it. Place the trap in an area that cockroaches frequent most. They will get into the trap but not get out. This method will work on individual roaches but for the nest, you need stronger measures.
Fruit flies may look a huge problem because they simply don’t go away. However, it isn’t hard to get rid of these pesky creatures especially if you know how to trap them. Just take one-half cup of ACV (apple cider vinegar) pour into a glass jar or wide bottle. Cut up some pieces of rotting fruit and place inside the jar. Then Make a funnel with a paper roll and place it into the jar to create a trap. Keep her trap in the area where the flies appear most and leave it overnight. Get rid of it the next morning.
Mosquitoes by far are the worst mong offenders because they not only give you painful nasty bites but can infect you with viruses too. The best thing to use for mosquitoes is citronella and lemongrass essential oils with a diffuser to keep these nasty pests away. You can make your own candle diffuser to make this cost-effective. Another way to keep mosquitoes away is to just melt some coconut oil and make a mixture using the coconut oil and essential oil. Let the mix harden and then apply to your skin like a repellent cream but never apply concentrated essential oil directly on your skin.
Flies hate and detest lavender so it would do you well to remember that. Take a small cloth or a sponge and soak it with undiluted lavender essential oil. Now keep it in a small unsealed jar and place it in a corner of the house or where flies frequent a lot. Another way to use lavender is to make a spray of it using 30 drops of lavender oil mixed with water and pour the mix into a spray bottle. Use as and when needed. When using essential oils, avoid direct contact with skin.
