Former President George W Bush may stand trial for war crimes
3 Case was to be heard on December 12th
If the arguments do take place it will be broadcasted on the ninth circuit’s YouTube channel. Saleh has been trying since 2013 to get a hearing against the Bush administration. The lawsuit filed by her was dismissed in 2014 when the court stated that the defendants were immune from further proceedings under the Westfall act of 1988 which immunizes federal officials in civil lawsuits as long as a court determines that the officer was imparting his duties within legitimate scope of his employment.
Saleh disputes such immunity stating that the planning and waging a war of aggression against her country fell within the scope of such an act and as such the defendants were bound to be tried. It was after much lobbying and court appearances that the ninth circuit court agreed to hear arguments on Dec 12th 2016 in which case George Bush may stand trial for war crimes.
